Cannabis industry leaders said they are expecting Ohio to follow a similar trend as the rest of the country: once recreational sales begin, there will be a huge surge in demand at dispensaries.
CINCINNATI — Recreational marijuana will be up for sale in several Cincinnati-area dispensaries beginning Tuesday.
Jason Erkes, communications officer with Sunnyside Dispensary said the business' Sunnyside locations in Cincinnati have been approved to begin recreational sales Tuesday.
Erkes said the Kennedy Avenue location in Columbia Township will open for its first recreational sales at 7:30 a.m.
The Forest in Clermont County will also be ready to sell on Tuesday, they said in a press release. And The Landing on Smith Road near Rookwood told us it is also ready to sell Tuesday. Up in Butler/Warren counties, Shangri-La's two locations will be open to sales on Tuesday, as well, they said in an email to WCPO 9. Also in that area, Columbia Care will be ready for sales, too.
The Columbus-based Ohio Cannabis Coalition (OHCANN), which says it is Ohio's "leading trade association representing licensed cultivators, processors, dispensaries and testing labs," said in a press release that recreational sales are approved to begin state-wide on Tuesday.
"This is a historic time for our state as our members look forward to serving consumers with regulated, tested, safe cannabis products," OHCANN said in its press release.
Provisional licenses were issued to multiple dispensaries in the Tri-State region beginning in June. These are the businesses that are already approved to begin selling non-medical marijuana as soon as Tuesday. Check with each individual retailer first to confirm if they are in fact ready to sell. We'll update this story as we learn more from each dispensary.
