Required information

• Name of the act
• Title or source + section number
  • Use the acronym U.S.C. when referring to United States Code
  • Use the § symbol for sections

  General format for federal and state statutes

  Name of Act, Title # Source § Section # (Year). URL

  Example

  Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990, 42 U.S.C. § 12101 et seq. (1990).

  Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act, Cal. Penal Code § 11164 et seq.
